What are your credentials?

I’m an ACC certified coach by the International Coach Federation (ICF) and a member of the ICF.  As part of my ICF membership, I’m governed and abide by the ICF Code of Ethics.  A copy of the ICF Code of Ethics may be found here.

I’m a Core Essentials Program graduate of Coach U (an ACTP and ACSTH certified coaching program by the ICF) and am enrolled in (and am currently taking classes in) the CoachU Advanced Coaching Program.  As a lawyer, I’m a firm believer in appropriate training and continuing education – and take both very seriously.

What exactly is coaching and why would I hire a coach?

Coaching is about having someone on your side – someone with an outside perspective to bounce ideas off of and get the encouragement and support you need to accomplish what you really want more easily.  Coaching deals with what YOU want – not what the outside world thinks you should want.  Coaching facilitates powerful transformation and will get you results much faster (assuming you do the work) than you would on your own.  It helps to fast-forward your movement.

Coaching is not therapy (although it can be very therapeutic), but is instead concerned with taking appropriate action in the present time so as to create the perfect present and future.  Coaching is also not consulting or advising, although this can be a valuable tool that is used upon occasion.  Coaching has more to do with supporting you to discover and implement your own solutions.

Skilled coaches are good at helping you to determine what’s most important, by:

  • listening deeply to everything you say, how you say it, what isn’t said, and even your tone of voice;
  • mirroring back to you what the coach is hearing/discovering through listening; and
  • asking deep questions that you wouldn’t likely ask of yourself.

People hire coaches to grow, identify and get more of what they want, make a change in their lives, and/or get unstuck.

What’s the difference between coaching, therapy, consulting, and advising?

Therapy is focused on past trauma or issues and human behavior.  Coaching is not therapy, but is instead concerned with taking appropriate action in the present time to create the perfect present and future.

Coaching is also not consulting or advising.  Coaching has more to do with supporting you to discover and implement your own solutions, as opposed to advising you to do it the coach’s (or someone else’s) way.

Does coaching really work and, if so, why?

Yes, so long as the client is ready and willing to be coached (and willing to put in the work relating to coaching), coaching works extremely well.  But don’t take my word for it.  Take a look at some articles regarding life and business coaching and what it can do for you here, here and here (and these are just a few of the many out there).  In fact, many Fortune 500 companies use coaches for their executives and top-level management.  But coaching shouldn’t be reserved for Fortune 500 executives.

So, why does coaching work?  The synergistic relationship between coach and client creates momentum and helps the client to move forward more quickly.  Coaching helps clients to identify and better understand what goals they really want (as opposed to what they think they should want) and to set the right goals for themselves.  Once a client’s true goals are set, they are more naturally pulled forward to meet them.   Additionally, coaching helps clients to develop new skills and to hone their already existing skills, which translates into more success.

A personal or business coach isn’t all that different than an athletic coach – only it’s about the client’s personal and business life (as opposed to a sport).  Many of us believe that success in life requires going it alone and proving ourselves.  However, this is a trap – one that athletes know isn’t true.  Athletes understand that true success is more easily obtained when collaborating with someone who is trained to help them set goals and work effectively toward their goals.  They hire coaches to help them do that.  Life and business coaches are no different.

What can I expect from you as my coach?

Honesty, integrity, curiosity, respect, forthrightness, and compassion.  I believe in my clients whole-heartedly (even if they don’t believe in themselves).  In fact, this is one of my greatest strengths.  I know that you can get to where you want to be.  And I know that you will – even if it takes some time.  I’ll keep you accountable, but with compassion (no nagging – that’s your family’s job).

I’ll stretch your thinking through challenging questions and will make you more curious about yourself and what you truly want (and can make happen).  I don’t hold judgment.  I don’t hold back anything that I feel could be helpful to you, so I do give advice from time to time.  However, any advice that is given is without attachment – you can freely take it or leave it.

Although being coached includes work, it can and should be enjoyable.  I enjoy my clients immensely and intend to make our coaching sessions as enjoyable to you as they are to me.  Please know, however, that you set the tone of our sessions.  I will always respect your desires.

How long do I need to work with a coach?

That truly depends on you and where you are now, where you want to go, and how quickly you want to get there.  I ask for a commitment of at least 3 months in my standard month to month 1-on-1 coaching (because it typically takes that long to begin to make real and lasting changes).  And my packages and programs are set time periods. The period involved varies for each program or package.

Some clients choose a package or program and end it at the end of the set period.  Others continue coaching with me after their initial program or package is completed.  Often, once clients realize their initial goals, they identify new or bigger goals and visions that they want to achieve that coaching will help them get quicker.

It is up to you how long you continue with coaching, or whether you take a break and come back later (which is also common).

Many coaching techniques and processes can be practiced on your own once learned.  Coaching with a good coach will teach you how to use these techniques for yourself and give you confidence to make decisions on your own.

What services do you offer and what’s the investment?

I currently offer 1-on-1 coaching to my clients.  I’m working on a group package and hope to offer that soon.  My pricing is package-based and depends on what is included within the package.  Most coaching packages include workbooks, assessments and other materials, email coaching and support and access to a private client portal.  Payment can be made up-front or broken into monthly payments (with additional cost added for the monthly payment option).  For more information about the services I currently offer, click here.

What methods of payment do you accept?

I accept payments via credit card and personal check.  Please note that no service will be performed until payment has been received and cleared.  Once we start working together, you’ll be able authorize me to process monthly payments (should you choose to do so).

What’s your refund or cancellation policy?

If you’re unable to make a scheduled appointment, I’ll reschedule if possible (subject to availability) so long as at least 48-hour prior notice is given.  Make-up sessions must take place in the same month.  If I need to cancel a call and we can’t reschedule within the same month, then the fee for that call will be refunded (or applied to the next month, as applicable).

Except for Qualified Cancellations (defined below), my clients are responsible for full payment of fees for any service or product purchased regardless of (a) whether you complete the full length of the coaching package, product or other service purchased, (b) your circumstance or (c) whether you selected a lump sum or monthly payment plan.

Except for month-to-month coaching that is being paid on a monthly basis after completion of a coaching program or package (which is described below), cancellation of any product or service will be honored SO LONG AS the following conditions are met (a “Qualified Cancellation”):

  • You have fully attended all sessions for the first full month (or, if the services or program are for less than a month, you have fully attended all such services), have fully implemented the practices set forth therein during such period and feel the services are not working for you; and
  • You request a cancellation (and, if applicable, a refund) in writing within 5 weeks of your start date of such product or service to me at heather@heathermoulder.com and provide such information reasonably requested by me to show that you fully attended and implemented the practices set forth in the applicable program, course, or other service.

Failure to complete the actions above will result in a no-cancellation or refund policy. Should you qualify for a Qualified Cancellation, to the extent you have prepaid for all or any portion of a product or service being cancelled, you will receive the Qualified Refund Amount within 30 days of my approval of such Qualified Cancellation.  Immediately upon the occurrence of any Qualified Cancellation, you will be cut-off from being able to access any on-line product or service and from my private client portal (and any product or related materials not yet delivered will not be sent to you).

The term “Qualified Refund Amount” means 100% of your investment in any product or service less the sum of (a) the cost for any coaching services already provided to you (determined at the monthly rate then charged for such services and pro-rated for any partial month) plus (b) the actual cost of any bonus material you received as an early bird incentive.

Should you desire to cancel coaching services that are being provided on a month-to-month basis and that is being paid monthly, I require a 30-day notice of ending such coaching engagement.

How can I get started/see if you’re the right fit for me?

The best way for us to get started is to schedule a Lifeline Discovery Session.  This is a FREE 60-minute session to help us determine whether coaching is right for you, how coaching could help you, whether I’d be a good fit as your coach, and which programs make most sense for you.  You can schedule it now by going to my calendar and figuring out a date and time that works for you.

Is the private client portal and my data secured and safe?

Yes! In fact, there are 3 levels of security provided to keep your data safe and confidential: (a) username and password protected; (b) Verisign Security Certificate protects your data on this site; and (c) Secured pages (https://).  Because each client has their own username and password, you are the only one (outside of me) that has access to your information.

How do I access your private client area and how do I log in?

Click on the Client Login page in the navigational menu at the top of this website to find the login link. Then enter the username and password that has been assigned to you. Don’t have login information yet?  Contact me so we can get an account created for you.

What if I forget or lose my password and login information?

If you simply forgot your password, you can still go to the Login page by clicking the Login link. Click on the blue link “forgot password” to the right of the “Login” button and, in the new “Forgot Password” window, enter your username and click on the “Continue” button. You will receive an email shortly with your password included.

If you misplaced both your username and password, contact me and I will forward you your information.

I’m trying to log into the private client portal, but it won’t accept my username or password.  What do I do?

The login information is case sensitive, so enter it exactly as it was given to you. Also, type in your login credentials and DO NOT copy/paste it, as this procedure can include empty spaces – rendering it incorrect. Again, if you don’t remember your login credentials, you can contact me via email and I’ll forward them to you.

I understand your rescheduling policy specified above, but what’s the best way to reschedule my appointment?

You can reschedule any appointment by using the online calendar system. Just complete the following steps:

  • Log into your Private Client Website Area.
  • Click on the Calendar Menu.
  • Locate and click on the desired block of “Available” time (or if you already have an existing appointment, click on the title of your existing appointment that you wish to reschedule).
  • Click on the “edit” button and change the details of the appointment to correspond with an “Available” block of time.
  • The calendar will update itself, you’ll see your new appointment reflected and I will receive an email notification letting me know of the change.
